Prime barbeque and outdoor fun time is here
As the summer heat continues to sizzle, and as we spend more and more time at home, we have to find new and inventive ways to make our staycations memorable and fun. We’re living in a really strange time; one where it’s hard to even take our family on vacation. So, what do we do for fun and entertainment during this trying time? Let’s utilize that backyard and have some fun grill time!
BUT MAKE SURE THE GRILL IS CLEAN! BOTH INSIDE AND OUT!
Take yourself out of the house and into the backyard. Throw a virtual pool party or invite a few guests over for a socially distancing one. Even if you don’t have a pool, a deck or even some grass space will do. It’s time to get the family together and start making some great food, good drinks and share some memories.
When it comes to entertaining, whether it is just your immediate family or other guests are going to be arriving, you want to make sure everything is clean, in shape, and perfect for your fun day.
Here are a few ideas to make sure your summer fun staycation outdoor backyard party goes smoothly.
Figure out what you want to serve. Maybe you want to have a theme to the party such as a Hawaiian theme. Prepare fun Hawaiian themed food that includes coconut and pineapple. You may not want to have a pig roast, but you can certainly get the grill ready for some awesome barbeque pork ribs. Don’t forget about the drinks. Create a signature drink for your party that involves tropical fruits and rum! Having a signature drink means you don’t really have to worry about other alcoholic beverages, but your guests can certainly bring their own.
Figure out entertainment
If you have a pool, you know that will be the focal point of entertaining. But what if you just have a barren backyard? You can create a fire pit in one corner using bricks and pavers. Situate a few chairs and other seating around it. Get the S’mores out for some camping-like fun. Line some chairs up (6 feet apart, of course) and hang up a large sheet. Purchase a really inexpensive projector and get ready for a walk-in movie theater. In another section have some games set up like corn hole and horseshoes. People can distance but still engage in some fun.
Get that backyard in shape
It’s time to get that backyard cleaned up and ready for guests. Hose off those plastic chairs and get the algae out of the pool. Maybe the lawn needs some attention, or the deck needs to be re-sealed to handle guests and accidents that may occur. Most important of all, get that grill ready! Cleaning the grill is of utmost importance because above anything when throwing a party, food is most important, and cooking on a clean space is even more so.
